RIP TRAIDCRAFT PLC

 

Now that Traidcraft has gone into administration, the confusion with Fairtrade might be lessened. There is no other benefit. Traidcraft, based in Gateshead, was the pioneer of the Fairtrade movement. Traidcraft was the trading arm of the Traidcraft Foundation: Traidcraft Exchange was the charitable arm and this survives as Transform Trade. All clear?

 

Anyway, Traidcraft organised the marketing of products supplied on fair trade principles and sold by good people manning stalls at fetes and in church halls. We will miss them. Meanwhile, the Fairtrade Foundation goes on as before.
