Thank you!!!
Thank you to everyone who contributed to the fantastic evening on Thursday! There was an excellent turnout and there have been many many positive comments.
Thank you especially to all those who were helpers, particularly Susan who got there at 4 and didn't leave till 10! Also a big thank you to Moe who came all the way from Blackbird Leys to help us!
The stalls had a very successful evening; one Traidcraft stall holder sold an amazing £104 worth of goods in just a few minutes and the raffle raised £78. Money that WAFTAG makes from the night will be contributed to Fairtrade projects.
In case you were not able to get to the show , here is Sir Steve Redgrave's message:
“Best wishes for the Witney Fairtrade Fashion Show. It is great that Fairtrade is so well recognised within Witney and that students from Abingdon and Witney College have been so creative in designing and using Fairtrade cotton.
I have been lucky enough to visit local communities in Mali which have directly benefited from Fairtrade. The difference it can create for schools, healthcare and employment is dramatic and truly life-changing. The small premium that we pay for Fairtrade goods in the UK converts to a huge difference in the lives of farmers in West Africa and India.
It is really important to raise awareness for Fairtrade products and the knowledge that it supports sustainable production and investment in social and/or economic development projects.
Being involved with Fairtrade is something you should all be very proud of and please keep spreading the message.”
